Can Lifting Heavy Things Stunt Growth?

Can Lifting Heavy Things Stunt Growth?
A documentary in a third world country feature child laborers carrying to and fro huge sacks of cement , theyre young bodies arepressure to carry manually these sacks weighing several kilos each, you would be surpise to see that they look like 8 year olds interms of height when in fact they're age from 15 to 16. this shows that too mcuh pressure in the joints and muscles at an early age can stunt your growth.

The above quote is fairly accurate. There has been many studies regarding the effect of pressure in joints on height growth. If you lift things above your strength limit, you can easily hurt your muscles and joints. Many fitness trainers always remind you not to over-lift weights - that is to protect you from bone and muscle damage.

If you're young and workout few times a week, you don't have to stop lifting. If you just control the amount of weight you're lifting, you should be fine.
